CHARTERED TAX PRACTITIONER

(Professional Skills Certification Course)

(Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), a special track for Senior Tax Professionals)

Consultant-Chartered Tax Practitioner is an approved NoS-QP (National Occupational Standard Qualification Pack Certification) which is fully aligned to NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework at Level 5) This Professional Skill Qualification is offered under skill development initiatives of Government of India and jointly awarded by MEPSC-SSC (Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council - sector skill council), a recognized awarding body of NCVET (National council of Vocational Education & Training) under the Aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship-GoI.

The Awarding body (MEPSC) offers to recognize the precedence of the seniors to honour and distinguish them with their experienced background of prior learning in the domain of taxation has designed a special scheme and approved it as an exclusive fast track to recognise those senior tax practitioners and experienced personalities in the industry, who are having experience in the field of taxation. Accordingly, this pathway gives an opportunity to the existing practitioners to transform themselves into a qualified skill Professionals to carry out their practice with the Title ``Chartered Tax Practitioner`` and to obtain direct fellow membership of the Institute of Chartered Tax Practitioners India.
 

Accordingly, a normal pre-training of 30 hours is enough since, they are already dealt in the domain of supportive tax compliance services. Hence, they can directly become Associate/Fellow members of the Institute on passing of this RPL exam. This exam will further strengthen their professional achievements. By passing this exam, Senior Tax Practitioners, being leaders and present torch bearers, will lead with an example in creating a strong foundation for the next generation of tax practitioners to evolve them as a proud fraternity.

Minimum eligibility for admissions – Any person of 21 years of age or above with- 

  1. Graduation in commerce/accounting/ finance/business administration/ management/law etc or

  2. CA/CMA/CS Intermediate exam passed students with 3 years of experience in accounting, taxation field or

  3. Any graduate of other stream with 3 years of experience in accounting, taxation field or  

  4. 12th pass with 4 years of verifiable & standing experience in accounting, taxation field

Additional eligibility criteria for RPL route-

  1. Senior Tax Practitioner (Enrolled or Licensed for more than 5 years) Or

  2. Experienced Person in Taxation (having more than 10 years of experience)

 

Note:

  • Senior Tax Practitioner means a person who is enrolled as Income Tax Practitioner/ VAT or Sales Tax or Commercial Tax or GST Practitioner/ Tax Return Preparer / Custom Broker License holder for more than 5 years at the time of this application

  • Retired Government tax officers will be treated as super senior practitioners irrespective of date of their enrolment

  • Experience person in taxation means any person who is working into the Accounting & Finance for more than 10 years of verifiable experience in the field of taxation domain and having minimum academic qualifications as mentioned above

Thus, above candidate after the successful completion of RPL exam will be awarded with professional skill qualification of Chartered Tax Practitioner by MEPSC & ICTPI.

  • RPL candidates are exempt from practical training (Since it is covered under their CPD),

  • RPL candidates are also exempted from computer application module

  • RPL candidates do not need to wait for their exams after enrolment. A short revision cum bridge program (up to 30 hours) will be organised for them and then they  can directly take their exams

  • Professional orientation is clubbed in above bridge course

  • They will be assessed with both modules in a single Computer Based Exam scheduled under Recognition of Prior Learning route.

  • Post Graduate Diploma from Medhavi Skills University is optional. (requires completion of one more semester & fees extra)

  • RPL Exam- This is designed to develop theoretical and practical knowledge in the candidate covering technical & professional concepts. RPL exam structure -

    • Module I- (100 Marks-  90 Minutes )

      • Section A- Applied Financial Accounting & Ethics​ [AFAE]-50 Marks

      • Section B- Business Regulatory Laws Compliance's [BRLC]-50 Marks

    • Module II- (100 Marks- 90 Minutes )

      • Section A-Direct Tax Laws Compliance's   [DTLC]-50 Marks

      • Section B-Indirect Tax Laws Compliance's  [ITLC]-50 Marks 

Please note –

  • Minimum pass marks are 70% in each subject

  • Each exam consists of 50 % practical (numerical)/ descriptive questions involving application, decision making, problem solving techniques & 50 % MCQ type questions  

  • Exam is Computer Based Assessment with 15 minutes of extra reading time.

  • Exams are on demand and the exam can be scheduled any time within 30-day exam window,

  • Results will be notified via email within 30 days of exam

  • Exams are online and are remotely proctored can be taken from home/ office 

  • Maximum time to pass this RPL exam is 3 Months.

  • Official course approval and entry in the National Qualification Register of NCVET

  • Approved Model Curriculum and NoS-Qualification Pack Details   

  • Course fees is Rs 4,885/- per student (Includes LMS access for study materials and one time exam fees but excludes bank charges)

  • Re-examination fees is Rs 500/- per exam (Applicable if any candidate fails in his RPL exam)

  • Hard copies of the study material & practice kit will be provided on request (at extra cost)

    • ITP/GSTP/STP/TRP enrolment certificate (Mandatory for enrolled tax practitioners)

    • If retired Govt Tax Officer service completion certificate/letter from the department is mandatory

    • Other experienced persons shall attach their experience certificate obtained from their clients/ employers (from current or past clients/ employers, totalling to more than 10 years) and mandatorily attach your CV
