CHARTERED TAX PRACTITIONER COURSE
[To Become a Self-Reliant Indian (Atmanirbhar Bharatiya)]

One can attain this highly skill oriented professional & practical qualification by completing a rigorous pathway, to distinguish himself out from the crowd of Tax Professionals. This course also given an opportunity to existing enrolled tax practitioners to convert themselves into qualified professionals, organized by professional membership organization.

Chartered Tax Practitioners is offered under WISE (work integrated skill-based higher education) initiative of Medhavi Skills University ( A university Established by Sikkim Act,2021 & Recognised by UGC-University Grants Commission- under department of higher education-Ministry of Education-GoI) as Post Graduate Diploma. ( Equivalent to NCrF at Level 6).

This certification is also jointly awarded by MEPSC-SSC (Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council - sector skill council), a recognized awarding body of NCVET (National council of Vocational Education & Training) under the Aegis of Ministry Skill Development & Entrepreneurship-GoI, working for skill development initiatives of the government. Consultant-Chartered Tax Practitioner is now approved NoS-QP (National Occupational Standard Qualification Pack Certification) & is fully aligned to NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework at Level 5).

Course has two routes,

Regular Route – for fresher students / Recently Enrolled Tax Practitioners
-
RPL Route- for Senior Tax Practitioners or Experienced Professionals -

Minimum Eligibility for admissions – Any Person of 21 years of age or above with-
-
Graduation in commerce/accounting/ finance/business administration/ management/law etc or
-
Any graduate of other stream with 3 years of experience in accounting, taxation field or
-
CA/CMA/CS Intermediate exam passed students with 3 years of experience in accounting, taxation field or
-
12th pass with 4 years of verifiable & standing experience in accounting, taxation field

Under regular route, there are two main stages of the course

Main Course Exam ( Includes Practical’s & Computer Application Module )

Professional Orientation Program
When a candidate completes both stages successfully he will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma-Chartered Tax Practitioner from Medhavi Skill University & Also NCVET Approved Professional Skill Qualification from MEPSC enabling him/her to enroll for membership of the Institute at appropriate level !​

Main Course Exam- This is designed to develop theoretical and practical knowledge in the candidate covering technical & professional concepts. Every candidate has to pass below Exams

Module I- (100 Marks- 3 Hours)

Section A- Applied Financial Accounting & Ethics​ [AFAE] -50 Marks

Section B- Business Regulatory Laws Compliance's [BRLC] -50 Marks

Module II- (100 Marks- 3 Hours)

Section A-Direct Tax Laws Compliance's [DTLC] -50 Marks

Section B-Indirect Tax Laws Compliance's [ITLC] -50 Marks

Please note –

Minimum pass marks are 70% in each subject

Each exam is consists of 50 % practical (numerical)/ descriptive questions involving application, decision making, problem solving techniques & 50 % MCQ type questions

Each Exam is Computer Based Assessment with 15 minutes of extra reading time.

All are on demand term end exams can be scheduled within the exam windows,
-
Results will be notified via email within 30 days of exam
-
Exam windows are in the month of March, June, September & December
-
Exams can be taken at nearest Person VUE exam centers at scheduled time
-
During this COVID-19 crisis, exams can be scheduled and taken from home/ office
-
Candidate also have to complete Practical Assignments (Project work) as announced from time to time within this section to acquire proficiency in practice & procedures (Each section 50 marks are for practicals)

Maximum time to pass this section is 12 Months.

Course application fees is Rs 2,000/- payable at the time of registration to Medhavi Skills University

Course fees is Rs 25,000/-

Examination & Re-examination fees for each Module is Rs 2,500/- (for each paper)

Hard copies of the study materials & practice kits will be provided on request (at extra cost)

Professional Orientation Course- After successfully completing the Course candidate will be required to undergo 7 day professional Orientation program covering Professional Ethics, Personality development & other aspects (On Thematic sessions “Know Laws No Loss”). Fees for the same is Rs 5,000/- and this will be an online/ classroom based training program.

Computer Applications Module (Optional) – only those who do not have any prior knowledge or training of computers and related applications will be required to undergo this module. Candidate will have to enroll himself and undergo this training course at designated training center of his choice, fees and duration of the course will vary from city to city in accordance with infrastructure and facilities of the training center.

Above IT exam will be exempt if candidate has already acquired equivalent certification and is experienced in using computer applications

All other details will be provided by the concerned IT Training partner

Recognition of Prior Learning for Senior or experienced Tax Practitioners
Institute recognizes the precedence of the senior, experienced/ enrolled tax practitioners and to honour and distinguish them with their recognition of prior learning and experience in the domain of taxation. So, normal training is not required as they are already licensed senior tax practitioners, hence they can directly become associate/fellow members by passing two main exams for formal recognition of prior learning. This exam will further strengthen their professional achievements. By passing this exam, Senior Tax Practitioners, being leaders and present torch bearers, will lead by an example and will create a strong foundation for next generation of tax practitioners fraternity.

Thus these candidate will be awarded professional skill qualification Chartered Tax Practitioner by MEPSC after he/she successfully completes two main course exams.

Computer Application is not required by Senior Tax Practitioner (however seniors can take it voluntarily if they wish)

Senior Tax Practitioners are also exempt from Practical’s ( They can complete it under CPD if they wish)

Seniors Tax Practitioners will be assessed by same two module exams under Recognition of Prior Learning route.

Retired Government officers are treated as super senior practitioners irrespective of their enrollment date
-
Senior Tax Practitioner means a person who is enrolled as Income Tax Practitioner/ VAT/Sales Tax Practitioner/ GST Practitioner/ Tax Return Preparer/ Custom Broker License holder for more than 5 years at the time of application

Experienced Professional- Any person who is working into the Accounting & Finance field and has more than 10 years of verifiable experience into taxation domain will be termed has experienced person

Minimum eligibility qualification (Graduation/ Post Graduation in the relevant field) is must for enrollment

Post Graduate Diploma from Medhavi Skills University will be offered at the discretion of university and requires fulfilling additional academic requirements in case of candidates assessed under RPL route
